Somewhat discretely, the largest strike in the United States in more than four years is currently taking place with unions employed by Verizon communications in the Eastern quadrant of the country.
However, there is a bit of irony behind 45,000 person strike and it could have implications for landline communications companies.
The strike is comprised of the unions the Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. The argument behind the feud is that Verizon contests that its landline business needs to be highly reduced because it is under performing.
